Monsanto decided to leave the GM crops in Europe after the European choice to change the rules on coexistence. The management will be transferred to Member States, offering to individual legislators the possibility to influence the future of biotechnology in Europe. In addition to supranational rules from farm to table with restrictions and constraints, the European Union now wants to abandon the "Federal" approach in cultivation in favor to a local management of Member States conditionable by choices not only political-economic, but also social-policy. After a presentation of the legal European framework, the article analyzes the rules of coexistence in force in Europe and later the new norms in preparation.
