The article examines the relationship between the Italian Socialist Party and the leftwing sector of the British Labour Party, led by Aneurin Bevan. It highlights two issues in particular, namely the existence among Italian socialists of a plan to renew links with the Labour Party as well as European socialism already in the 1950s; and the political and programmatic similarities between the Bevanites and Nenni’s autonomist group. According to the author, the two political leaders shared a common view of world politics and, therefore, can and should be compared.
