The analysis proposed in this essay aims to emphasize the dangerous assonances and inter-mingling between the new forms that power is taking in the context of global law and those peculiar to mafia criminal power, which the crisis of legality - understood as a crisis of the limitation of power - may entail. As a matter of fact, in the transformations underway, the lat-ter kind of power seems to present particularly fertile characteristics: since it is a pre-modern type of power (based on the protection-obedience relationship), it risks becoming the paradigm of power in the contemporary world.
