The role of the guardian, as regulated by the legal formant (Law 47/2017), is closely connected to his/her function as a legal representative of the unac-companied minor. Although this aspect is undeniably the predominant one, in practical experience, the relationship between the guardian and the unaccom-panied minor can take on the characteristics of a unique form of social parent-ing. Through interviews conducted with guardians in the Turin area, the au-thors aim to outline the manifestations of this configuration of social parent-ing, especially in relation to the transnational and transcultural dimension in which the minor is situated.
