This Paper aims to investigate the effect of the introduction of standardized sets of disposable surgical instruments on operating room efficiency. The observational activity in the operating room was carried out in three hospital institutions for various surgical specializations, and the collected data were organized through mapping of surgical procedure activities. The data are analysed using a parametric t-test on the difference between average procedure times with and without the Set object of the study. Results determined that the introduction of this type of innovation increases the efficiency of scrub technicians in setting-up the operating room and carrying out their tasks, and the results can be amplified if the institutions implement the Sets as integral part of their working method.
