The paper questions the possibility of using epigenetics and neuroscience for the purpose of developing criminal and/or social policies for the reintegration of incarcerated persons. After briefly analyzing the ethical and legal issues related to prisoner reeducation and resocialization, a multidisciplinary and comparative approach of the topic is proposed. The aim is to assess the compatibility with our legal system of intervention methodologies centered on cognitive and social neuroscience that can foster forms of social development.
Keywords: neuroscience; prison; welfare; epigenetics.
