Work-related stress has long been a focus of psychological, occupational medicine, and organisational studies. It became a recognised risk in compliance to art.28 of Legislative Decree 81/08. The evolution of approaches, from medical to psychological, highlights the role of individual resources in mitigating stress. The JD-R model (Bakker & Demerouti, 2016), an update of Karasek’s JD-C model (1979), emphasises the mediating effect of resources on stressors. In this context, the article examines a Public Research Institution, a sector rarely explored in Italian literature. Public Research Institution combines research and public administration service functions, facing organisational and financial constraints that increase job-demands. The study evaluates stress risk perception by INAIL’s check-list (2017) and analyses data considering individual and collective characteristics. Findings reveal a mix of high workloads, autonomy limitations, and varying organisational improvement tendencies, influenced by age, gender, and professional composition. Although not generalisable, the data provide insights for further research.
Keywords: work-related stress, risk assessment, statistical analysis, analysis of indicators, organizational improvement measures.
