Interpersonal relationships in the workplace are an essential reality for anyone working in the context of an organization, particularly in healthcare, where the quality of working relationships is associated with positive outcomes in terms of effectiveness and efficiency of care. The literature has often focused on the consequences that result from a conflictual workplace climate. Less attention has been paid to the importance of the benefits of positive working relationships. Based on the principle that the absence of negative working relationships does not necessarily equate to the presence of positive working relationships, the aim of this work was to develop a measurement tool, the SQRL, that can capture both the positive and negative dimensions of working relationships in healthcare. In addition, some of the SQLR items were formulated using popular expressions to limit some barriers of self-report measures. The results of the study show that the SQRL has good psychometric properties in a sample of healthcare workers and therefore appears to be a suitable instrument for assessing the quality of working relationships in the organizational context of healthcare.
Keywords: work relationships, healthcare workers, organizational climate, organizational well-being, dimensionality, validity.
