This work presents the first comprehensive study of the European civilian fi rearms and ammunition industry, covering 30 countries including all EU Member States, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. It evaluates the sector’s economic and employment impact, with a focus on production, distribution, and related industries such as sport shooting and hunting. Adopting a comprehensive and integrated methodology, the research estimates not only direct effects but also the broader ripple effects across supply chains and consumer-driven demand. Carried out between 2023 and 2025, with 2021 as the reference year, the study is structured into 30 national reports, each organized into nine thematic chapters. This in-depth work sheds light on a strategically relevant industry, offering valuable insights, fi gures, and comparative data for policymakers, researchers, and industry professionals seeking to understand its multifaceted contribution to Europe’s economy and employment landscape.

Fabio Musso is Full Professor of Business Management and Vice-Rector for Knowledge Transfer and Public Engagement at the Carlo Bo University of Urbino. He has over 30 years of experience in teaching and research. He is Vice President of the Italian Society of Management, Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Economic Behavior, and a member of the Scientifi c Board of several international journals.

Marco Cioppi is Full Professor of Business Economics and Management in the Department of Communication Sciences, Humanities and International Studies at the Carlo Bo University of Urbino. His main research interests concern the strategy and organization of SMEs and the management of Information and Communication Technologies. He teaches courses in Business Economics and Management and Social Media Marketing at the School of Foreign Languages at the same University.

Barbara Francioni is Associate Professor of Marketing and International Business in the Department of Communication Sciences, Humanities and International Studies at the Carlo Bo University of Urbino. Her main research interests cover international marketing, international business strategy, marketing strategy, and consumer behavior. Her work has been published in numerous academic journals, including International Business Review, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, International Journal of Management Reviews, and Journal of Small Business Management, among others.

Ilaria Curina is Assistant Professor of Economics and Management in the Department of Communication Sciences, Humanities and International Studies at the Carlo Bo University of Urbino. Her research interests focus on social media marketing, internet marketing, and branding. Her work has appeared in several Journals, including the Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing, British Food Journal, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, among others.

Sara Ferracci is a postdoctoral researcher who has worked with the University of Urbino and the University of Molise. She holds a PhD in Business and Behavioral Sciences from the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara. Her research focuses on behavioral economics, embodied decision-making, and consumer behavior.
