Starting from the sharp increase in the presence of immigrant users in health services, the paper analyzes the reasons as well as the problems and the potential of such presence. The paper, then, focuses on the process of organizational change that determines the presence in the services and in the daily work of health professionals. Particular attention is devoted to the access to the emergency room, for both regular and irregular immigrants.
