The approval of the new European rules for the cultivation of genetically modified varieties under dir. 2001/18/ EC may lead to an exclusion of the use of GMOs in a part of Europe. Will not be less, however, the problems related to the regulation and management of biotechnology in agriculture: broad and diverse category that includes many technologies can not be classified as GMOs as defined by law.
