In the first part of this essay, the A. describes the advent of a new labour culture during the 1968-1969 season of labour unrest, innovations in which he examines in respect of tradeunion democracy, autonomy and unity; further, he analyses the quantitative and qualitative data of the industrial disputes and the relevant agreements, stressing in particular the improvements introduced at the company level. In the second part, he examines instead the decline of that culture, which has however engendered significant advances especially as regards workers’ rights, limiting thus entrepreneurial power on the workplace.
