The concept of informal economy gathers a broad and heterogeneous set of economic activities and relations. Using date from a survey on firms located in the South and in the Centre-North of Italy, the Author explores different configurations of informal relations relevant for the productive activities. The collected information show different kind of cooperation, especially about the time horizon of the relations. Special attention is devoted to the institutional support expressed by the local societies. Social and economic network play different role in the two contexts, providing specific support to the competitive and cooperative strategy of the firms.
