This paper offers a glance at personal network building in refugees’ and asylum seeker’s reception. It is a strategic step in operators’ effort to prepare feasible adaptation conditions. From the social workers’ viewpoint: what are they called to do in order to contribute to such a process? What is the function of the rules negotiated in interprofessional working teams? What kind of help relationship is generated between migrants and social operators? These are some of the questions which arise from this field research work carried out in Sicily and Calabria through focus groups and in-depth interviews performed with coordinators of the SPRAR projects and with the professionals employed in the second reception of forced migrants in Italy.
