Detention is configured as being based on the rhetoric of re-education, while concealing the processes of disculturation and the control logics of the total institu-tion. In this sense, the experience of Penitentiary University Poles allows a particu-lar reading of the relational dynamics between inside and outside. This paper pre-sents the first results of a qualitative study conducted in 2023 on the Prison Uni-versity Poles in Tuscany.
