The debate on the crisis of historical knowledge, which has been alive for decades with varying perspectives, appears to have intensified in the past millennium, driven by technological innovations, the pervasive use of memory in the public sphere, and the marginalization of history in school education. Based on these premises, the dossier examines the stability of historical research and historiographical reflection. Following an introduction by the editors, it presents the responses to several questions posed to Agostino Paravicini Bagliani (medieval history), Francesco Benigno (modern history), and Carlotta Sorba (contemporary history). Their contributions, from diverse historio- graphical perspectives, provide a nuanced reflection, while simultaneously prompting new questions and further avenues of exploration.
