Giorgio Pini (1899-1987) a fascist journalist, published his Benito Mussolini. La sua vita fino ad oggi dalla strada al potere, in 1926 with the Cappelli publishing house in Bologna. The main sub- jects of this contribution are the evolution of Mussolini’s political ideas, his rise to power, his public image and his relationship with the Ital- ian people. An interesting comparison can be made between this popular work and the more sophisticated picture drawn by Margherita Sarfatti’s DUX. Giorgio Pini pays attention to the different sections of the reading public to whom the authors ad- dress themselves and to the multi-faceted myth of Mussolini being built up in the 1920’s.
