This article introduces a section that collects contributions from two research studies on urban agriculture – Bize_UrFarm and strame. The themes reported in the following articles have many points in common, starting with the fact that they all intercept the urban built environment, with its infrastructure (overpasses, disused constructions and railways...) and buildings with different functions. They both aim to identify its potential, with analysis and mappings from the large scale of the city, and then defining intervention strategies at the medium-to-small scale of the architectural object and its parts, roofs, blind facades, and service spaces that can contribute to the creation of a productive green infrastructure capable of improving the environmental and social aspects of the city.
Keywords: urban farming; urban regeneration; building integrated agriculture
