This paper presents the findings of a research project that investigates the experiences of social farming in Italy from the perspective of ecosocial work - a perspective that takes a holistic view of the living environment and promotes concepts of social service aimed at sustainability. Within the framework of a broader PRIN research project on ecosocial work in Italy, this paper analyses six cases of social farming, exploring the role attributed to the environment, the involvement of beneficiaries and the roles played by the actors involved. The data, collected through semi-structured interviews and analysed using the method of thematic analysis, indicate that social farming provides a privileged setting for ecosocial work practices, highlighting challenges and opportunities for social services in promoting sustainable local policies and demonstrating the potential of a holistic vision.
