With the aim of enhancing the fruitful integration between digital welfare and social research in addressing extreme poverty in Rome, the article reconstructs the role of the Anthology platform as a digital infrastructure for both research and service provision. In addition to illustrating the value that this platform can offer in integrating information on people experiencing homelessness, services, and individual trajectories, the article documents the contribution Anthology made in supporting the implementation of a university research project. Specifically, the reports archived on the platform regarding individual access to services enabled the production of a precise and diachronic estimate of the homeless population in the capital. Furthermore, by enabling a census of services in Rome, Anthology supported the web survey addressed to service managers involved in combating extreme poverty, as well as the social network analysis aimed at reconstructing the patterns of collaboration among organizations.
Keywords: extreme poverty; data governance; digital welfare; urban marginality; social innovation; digital accountability.
