This article shows the structural problems of the Turkey shaped by Mustafa Kemal, and so the far and near causes of the success and charisma of the present President of the Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. For years he has been representing a peaceful and positive revenge of the society on the State, but now, in the frame of the feud with the Gülenist movement, he embodies a deeper anti-intellectual drive. According to the author this regressive mentality, matched with the authoritarian involution of Erdoğan’s régime, can bring about a serious qualitative deficit in Turkish ruling class.
