The essay analyzes the relationship between new patterns of consumption and social capital. In particular, it examines the role of socially responsible consumerism in the production of social capital, that capital able to generate trust and wider social reciprocity. The theoretical hypothesis assumes that consumers, through consumption actions, put in place networks of social interaction, trust, being aware of the ecological, social, cultural and economic footprint, they claim the right to exercise sustainable lifestyles, according to a model of happiness intersubjectively meant.
