The authors start from a description of the present increasing spread of dissociative experiences in our society. They consider this kind of suffering as "a suffering of the between". They then present the 5 categories in DSM 5 and, for each of them, they describe a short clinical example. They finally identify two specific competences of the Gestalt therapist who works with dissociative experiences: a differential diagnosis between a "turbulent" and a "confused" ground experience of the client, and a special attention to the exhaling of the client-in-contact-with-the-therapist. The aim of the Gestalt therapy intervention with this suffering is to build the relational ground between client and therapist from which it will be possible for the client to let new figures emerge.

Keywords: Dissociation, depersonalization, derealization, amnesia, selfregulation, assorbtion, turbulent ground, confuse ground
