Genital pelvic pain and penetration disorder (GPPP-D) is a complex sexual disorder that can profoundly affect women’s intimate and relational lives. Its origins are multifactorial, and this made an integrated therapeutic approach necessary, which considers both the psychological and physical aspects. This article outlines the approach of Ericksonian hypnotherapy in the treatment of vaginismus through the exposition of a clinical case in which an ideomotor technique was used that takes inspiration from that of the systemic induction of dancing hands (Loriedo, Rago, Genovesi, 2018).

Keywords: vaginismus, genital pelvic pain and penetration disorder, dissociation, trauma, Ericksonian hypnosis, ideomotor technique.
