Adeguamento della diga di contenimento nelle aree colpite dal Grande Terremoto del Giappone Orientale Questo articolo è il secondo di una serie dedicata all’analisi del rapporto tra la cultura della progettazione dello spazio e la transizione demografica in Giappone.2 Il primo saggio è stato pubblicato nel numero 108-109 di questa rivista (Kërçuku, Murayama, 2025). L'indagine qui si concentra sul processo di costruzione del consenso del machizukuri a Kesennuma, che ha permesso alla comunità locale – insieme ai progettisti incaricati di mediare con la Prefettura di Miyagi – di concepire il sistema di protezione costiera, compresa una diga, come parte integrante del paesaggio urbano e ambientale. Machizukuri è un termine giapponese; non ha un equivalente diretto in inglese, ma può essere approssimativamente inteso come progettazione e sviluppo comunitario. Questo approccio contrasta con quelli adottati in altri contesti, dove le barriere protettive hanno interrotto le relazioni spaziali, visive e funzionali con la topografia.
