Registration Teachers Books purchase Book orders from outside of Italy E-books E-books with LCP DRM

From April 2025, all our ebooks in both PDF and ePub formats adopt LCP, a new DRM system that will allow all our readers to use accessible reading applications.

The accessibility of our editorial production is dear to us, and we are committed to making all our publications increasingly accessible. As part of this effort, we have decided to abandon Adobe DRM, which did not provide sufficient guarantees in this direction, and adopt the open LCP standard, developed by a European consortium of publishers, industry operators, and public libraries. This standard has been adopted, among others, by Medialibrary, the consortium of Italian civic libraries and Caslini Torrossa a point of reference for European academic publications in digital format.

Users who have purchased ebooks with Adobe DRM in the past will be able to continue reading them using the same applications they have used so far. However, it is important to note that new ebook purchases will be protected with LCP and should be read with new rules.

Don't panic, follow the instructions found in "How to link your FrancoAngeli account to Cantook account"

If you have a Windows PC, Mac, or Linux, you need to install Thorium Reader on your computer.

Download the software suitable for your operating system from here: Download software

If you have a tablet or a smartphone with Android or iOS, you need to install Cantook Reader, which you can download from here:

Open the file that you downloaded from the pages with the reading software:

by clicking on the download icon  Down arrow (Download)

If requested, enter your "Passphrase," which is always the same as the email you used to make the purchase on the site.

If you do not want to install software on your computer, you can read your ebooks/issues using an online browser. To do this, you need to create a Cantook Cloud Account and link it to your FrancoAngeli account.

It is possible to read ebooks protected with LCP DRM on some eReaders but not on all, check with the manufacturer of your eReader.

Bookeen DIVA or Vivlio e-readers and PocketBook Reader are compatible, Kobo is not at the moment but has announced that there are plans to make it compatible.

LCP DRM compatible eReaders will ask you for a Password or PassPhrase, remember that it always corresponds to the email address of the FrancoAngeli account with which you made the purchase.

click on To link your Cantook Cloud Account register here, insert your Cantook username and your password and soon you will be sent to a page like this one:

Clicking on the cloud button  your book will be transferred on the Cloud and you can read it on MAX 6 different devices or with the online reader. 

After adding an ebook to the cart, if you don't have already linked your  username to the  Cantook account , you will get a page like this on , click on Register HereImmagine che contiene la schermata del carrello, dove è presente un link "Registrati QUI" che consente di associare l'account FrancoANgeli all'account Cantook

In this page you have to insert your  Cantook cloud email address  or the  email you want to use to register on Cantook Cloud. Using the same email used on FrancoAngeli is not mandatory.

Fill the fields and click on continue, now you have to insert your password (min 8 Chars)

Click on Continue, you will recieve an email with a code, insert it in the form:

Click on“Create an account”. A window will appear informing you that the account has been successfully created and which will shortly,  send you back to the cart on the FrancoAngeli website.

Proceed with the purchase as normal and once you have made the payment by credit card or PayPal, click on Return to shop, the order you just created will be displayed and the book will automatically be added to your library on Cantook if you have linked your FrancoAngeli account to your Cantook account.

At this point, by clicking on E-book, Subscriptions or Issues depending on what you purchased, you can proceed with downloading the ebook.

If you click on the “Download ebook” button with the down arrow, you will download an ISBN.lcpl file that you can open with Thorium on Windws, Mac, Linux or with Aldiko Cantook on Android or iOS.

If you prefer, you can instead click on “Add ebook to Cantook Cloud library” button with the cloud and the book will be uploaded to the Cantook Cloud and you can then download it on all your devices.

Open Aldiko Cantook on your smartphone or tablet, set up your account and you will see:

Click on Download and wait a few seconds to download the book to your device, start reading.

Ebooks can also be read “online” via browser from the Cantook Cloud platform.

Open your browser, type https://cloud.cantook.com insert your credentials and you will arrive at a page like this, click on the book you want to read and start reading.

The system will take into account the page you have reached on the various devices, so if you start reading from the browser and then move to the tablet with the application or vice versa, it will place you directly on the page you reached the last time.

Creating a Cantook Cloud account is not mandatory, but we recommend it because:

  • it makes it easier to transfer purchased ebooks to your devices, which happens automatically if your Cantook account is linked to the FrancoAngeli account,
  • it allows you to have synchronized reading on all your devices,
  • it allows you to have reading tools at no cost and, if you prefer, read your books without installing applications on your devices. The online reader allows you to read your ebooks without having to install applications and also offers the possibility of reading books with the Read Aloud function.

You can reset your password here:

  1. Go to cloud.cantook.com
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Click on “Forgot Password?”
  4. Enter the verification code you will receive by email.
  5. Choose a new password.

  • Verify that you are using the correct email address
  • If you do not remember your password for sure ask here cloud.cantook.com, to reset your password, by clicking on “Forgot Password”.
  • If it still does not work contact us 

You must enter the email address of your FrancoAngeli account with which you purchased the ebook.
