The essay, looking at social rights as rights that ground a social citizenship based on the guarantee of a certain level qualitative and quantitative level of well-being, aims at investigating, first, their sources within a multi-level perspective. In such a view, the Author proposes a synthesis of the multi-level system of social rights related to the working condition divided into two sub-systems: that one of the right to work and that one of the right to social security. A punctual analysis of those rights and of their conditions of entitlement follows. The essay focuses then on the ways in which that level of well-being is defined and on the burdens that companies have to bear in this view, concluding that, anyway, the activation of the beneficiary is essential to make social rights real.
