Women, at any time and in any part of the world, must, and cannot do other-wise, continuously strive to assert their rights against all forms of violence and dis-crimination. This article analyses how violence and discrimination against women is a multi-faceted problem that needs to be tackled at different levels and in dif-ferent sectors of society at the same time. The academic world is one of the most suitable places where it is possible to study the sociological causes of violence against women and, consequently, to offer solutions and hypotheses of answers
