LUM: it’s an acronym for the new and unique laboratory of bologna metropolitan area. It is a health planning intervention born by regional indications and aimed at redefining production capacities through the reduction of duplication. The LUM is an example of network integration between structures and above all among health professionals. It is the first example in Italy of cession of the business branch among Public Companies: Teaching Hospital St. Orsola- Malpighi (AOU), Local Health Autority of Imola (AUSL Imola), Orthopedic Institute Rizzoli (IOR) have "sold" human and technological resources, as well as contracts of any nature relating to the activities of laboratory diagnostics of clinical pathology, at the Local Health Authority of Bologna (AUSL Bologna), identified as the project leading company, where the structure of the single laboratory is based.
