Corporate policies on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are gaining increasing prominence in the Italian context, although they are often developed and analyzed at the level of individual organizations. In this scenario, collective bargaining can play a key role in promoting an inclusive workplace culture, thanks to its ability to legitimize and disseminate virtuous practices. The project presented here, conducted in the chemical-pharmaceutical sector through a collaborative research approach, involved researchers and industrial relations actors in a co-production process aimed at mapping the state of DEI in the sector. The goal was to provide social partners with concrete and context-sensitive tools to foster the spread of DEI policies across companies in the industry. The outcome was the development of sector-specific guidelines, which were incorporated into the 2025-2028 national collective bargaining agreement (CCNL), representing a successful case and a potentially replicable model for other sectors.
