Sogni, semiosi e interpretazione. I sogni nei processi clinici contemporanei

Dream, Semiosis and Interpretation In this paper it is considered that dreams continue to be an authentic shibboleth, even in post-Freudian psychoanalysis. However, it is also clear that the consideration of dreams in contemporary clinical processes has introduced some novelties and improvements. Among these, in this paper: dreams in the analytic process, evacuative dreams, the relationship be- tween function and dream-work, dreams and "madness" and dreams in severely traumatized patients. Some of the conceptual problems in psychoanalytic theory that have derived from these novelties are briefly investigated. The paper develops two areas that are positioned at the border and intersection between psychoanalysis and other disciplines, in this case neuroscience and semiotics. From the point of view of semiotics, and according to the ideas of Ch. S. Pierce, dreams can be considered as a sign inserted into a continuous process of psychic semiosis. The conceptualization of the instruments that psychoanalysis can construct in order to set up a dialogue with these disciplines seems promising.
