The topic of this paper is the reduction of history’s function merely as a construction of collective identities by the Albanian historiography. Some of the most significant themes were chosen: the investiture of the Albanian totality with a political conscience in the earliest documentary appearance (XI century AC), the dualistic and moralistic perspectives, the glory and the martyrdom, the alienation of the Other Ottoman.
