An increasing number of people use Internet for Online Sexual Activities (OSA) and this phenomenon is rapidly increasing. In the last years a strong double link has arisen between sexuality and this new medium: first, Internet gave a new significance to a varied number of sexual practices yet existing; secondly, sexuality helped to construct Internet usage to make it always more suitable for users’ need. This new sexual revolution has produced both positive and negative aspects, facilitating and enriching sexual functioning but also furnishing other opportunities for criminal, negative and harmful sexual conducts. A deeper understanding of Internet sexuality is so important for practitioners who work in the psychological and sexological fields. In this article the Authors try to offer the most possible complete overview of this phenomenon, describing its motivations and possible consequences.
Keywords: Online sexual activities (OSA), Internet, cyberporn, cybersex, online sexual preferences, chat room
