Schools and universities have opened a new educational perspective in prisons, laying the groundwork for a profound rethinking of the rehabilitation function entrusted by the Italian Constitution regarding punishment. The es-say aims to show how education and culture in prisons have taken on a decisive role in the emancipation and social reintegration of the incarcerated person, but also how they must be sheltered from prison emergencies and any correctional pretensions.
