Although Giacomo Matteotti is one of the most celebrated figures in Italian towns and cities, with innumerable squares and streets named after him, his personality is seldom studied in depth, and his commemoration is mainly focused on his role as a martyr to Fascism. This paper aims to remedy this situation by outlining the main features of Matteotti’s political biography.
