This article analyzes the Integrated Pathway for Adult Disability (PIDA) in light of recent developments in the territorial healthcare model within the Italian National Health Service (SSN), as outlined by decree-law n. 34/2020 and subsequent advancements. It demonstrates the synergistic integration of PIDA’s structure and operational philosophy with the core principles of the new territorial care, particularly concerning continuity of care, holistic approach, population stratification, and health promotion within the community. Furthermore, the article expands the analysis of PIDA, specifically focusing on the crucial role of the psychologist within this integrated and multidimensional model/process. It argues that PIDA presents a concrete opportunity to substantiate the reorganization of psychological services in primary care and community psychology, highlighting critical junctures and theoretical-practical opportunities arising from this integration.
