Il contributo sintetizza i risultati di uno studio recente condotto dall’Osservatorio Europeo sulla Homlessness che opera con il supporto della Federazione Europea delle Organizzazioni che si occupano dei senza Dimora (FEANTSA). Lo studio ha confrontato la natura e l’entità del fenomeno dei senza dimora migranti non-UE in 16 Stati membri dell’UE e ha effettuato alcuni confronti con il Regno Unito. La ricerca ha utilizzato un questionario standardizzato compilato da ricercatori con conoscenze specialistiche presenti in ciascun paese. È emerso che i modelli di esclusione abitativa dei migranti non-UE variavano notevolmente tra i diversi Stati membri dell’UE, riflettendo diversi sistemi di fornitura (o mancata fornitura) di alloggi temporanei per le persone che richiedono asilo, il tipo di migrazione e una serie di altri fattori specifici. È stato anche riscontrato che il livello di raccolta dei dati sull’esclusione abitativa dei migranti non-UE è estremamente variabile e spesso molto limitato. Ciò implica che molte dimensioni del fenomeno non sono ancora sufficientemente analizzate né in riferimento ai singoli Stati membri né per l’UE nel suo complesso.
