The review analyses the book by Per Leo, Tränen ohne Trauer. Nach der Erinnerungskultur (Stuttgart 2021), dedicated to the elaboration of the memory of the Nazi past in Germany, particularly after the reunification of the country. With reference to this phase, characterised by the elaboration of a culture of memory, the author provides a psychoanalytical reading, employing the concepts of splitting, projective identification and relief.
