Inclusion and equity should be the pillars of a school that is open to everyone, and that offers equal opportunities to pupils and students. This work shows how Disability Studies can be an indispensable tool to expose the fragility of the current school system and offer effective solutions, promoting the enhancement of diversity, the overcoming of traditional school practices no longer suitable and the adoption of more equitable and inclusive innovative practices. Taking into account everyone’s potential and needs also means being able to ensure that everyone can reach their goals. Formative evaluation assumes a decisive role allowing, in itinere, to understand what difficulties can be encountered and whether that particular learning path is proving to be functional or needs to be modified. Particular attention is also paid to self-assessment, which allows the learner to grow maturity, sense of responsibility and awareness of one’s strengths and weaknesses.
