The contribution aims to present an initiative that can be qualified as pertaining to both the research functions and the third mission of the university, proposing both a participatory research approach and one aimed at promoting the public use of academic knowledge and its integration with knowledge derived from institutional and professional practices. The activity in question involved actors from both the public and private sectors, interested in the issue of ageing and operating in the Biella area, as well as the general public, with the aim of coconstructing a shared project.
