This article reconstructs the theological profile and editorial circulation of De la santissima comunione by Tullio Crispoldi, a shadowy figure within the circle of Bishop Gian Matteo Giberti in 1530s Verona. Despite scarce biographical sources Crispoldi’s writings – particularly on the Eucharist – reflect his close association with the Italian Evangelism movement and its debates on justification, grace, and free will. Deeply influenced by Augustinian pessimism and authors such as Kempis and Jan Van den Campen, Crispoldi advocated for frequent sacramental communion as a means of intimate union with Christ, stressing the primacy of divine grace over human merit. The article analyzes the theological nuances of the treatise and reveals the existence of a second, previously undocumented edition of the work, printed by Stefano Nicolini da Sabbio in November 1535. This discovery, based on a copy held at the Museo degli Stampatori “Da Sabbio” and one in the BnF, offers new insight into the dissemination and reception of Crispoldi’s works.
