Given its long-standing establishment, a revision of the performance regulation framework for public bodies appears both timely and necessary. Drawing on the innovative impetus provided by Legislative Decree 150/2009, this study argues for an integrated approach that connects this specialized regulatory framework with other characteristic regimes ‒ such as the stringent financial rules and transparency requirements. These regulations should be read as a unified whole and interpreted within the specific legal and regulatory context of democratic public entities.
