The paper analyzes the role of the novel in Henri Lefebvre’s work, proposing it as a tool for urban analysis. In The Production of Space and other writings, Lefebvre uses the novel to understand the complexity of the urban, gathering insights into practices, spaces, dreams, emotions, and ideologies. The second part of the essay examines Lefebvre’s use of James Joyce’s Ulysses to analyze space and capitalist urban life.
Keywords: Lefebvre; urban analysis; everyday life; literature; Ulysses.
