The article examines Community Homes (CHs, Case della Comunità) as a new organizational setting for multiprofessional collaboration in Italian primary care, focusing on the relationship between General Practitioners (GPs) and Family and Community Nurses (FCNs). Drawing on documentary analysis and official data, it shows that CHs promote multiprofessional collaboration, although practical experiences remain limited, while also contributing to the revitalization of associated forms of general practice. However, implementation remains uneven, with delays, workforce shortages, and difficulties in establishing stable collaborative practices. Tensions surrounding the redefinition of professional jurisdictions and the role of GPs are limiting the transformative potential of CHs.
