The paper deals with social housing issues related to the lack of social housing providers in Italy; it describes the characteristics that Italian social housing providers have to develop in order to give answers to households whose needs are not met neither by the public sector, nor by the free market. The guidelines for Italian social housing providers are given from the experience of Woningcorporaties, the Dutch Housing Associations, as The Netherlands is the EU country where this sector is most developed.
