In this brief essay the author discusses the concept of Extended Mind and argues that it is a cognitive device similar to, but different from the mechanisms found in transference, countertransference and projected identification. It is a fundamental device in the field of GPMF, but can be activated in the dual nature of the therapeutic relationship. Mirror neurons appear to be key to the functionality of this device.
