Starting from the Parish Map of Niguarda, Ecomuseo Urbano Metropolitano Milano - Nord (eumm) has repeatedly put in place processes of territorial representation. From the Parish Map, to the workers’ neighbourhood map, in Sesto San Giovanni. In the article we analyze how maps, in all its possible representation, is an instrument to enhance the submerged elements of the urban landscape, to make sense of its transformations and to give voice to those who live in between. Leading the path, as a sort of mediator between different spheres and multiple citizens, the Ecomuseum, a territorial expert in the search for interpretation of contemporaneity and complexity of urban life. Participatory mapping processes allow us to reflect on current dynamics of site affiliation and how maps can be used, strategically, to build one’s own identity
