This article offers an analysis of how the methods and tools of computer forensics, coupled with currently available investigative techniques, can be applied to digital evidence relating to cold cases and cases involving missing persons so as to extract new probative elements that may be helpful in solving these cases. The analysis is not only methodological but also draws on fieldwork.
