What will be the impact of the pandemic on the return to marginal areas and the consequent repopulation of historic villages in these territories? The recent and intense debate and the opportunities that may arise from the Next Generation EU seem to give some positive signs to inhabit back these places, by proposing solutions to some problems that had aggravated their depopulation.The role that the historical consistency of the so-called marginal villages, their built environment and their appropriate conservation could play in this process is still an aspect that has not been sufficiently investigated. The analysis of some pre-pandemic strategies, which have had an impulse due to it, is an opportunity to start some reflections on the topic.
