This article sets out to analyse the singular place Touraine gave to work in the construction of his sociology. Firstly, work is at the heart of societies, the very thing on and around which social and political life is organised. Then, on a second level, it is the stage on which issues of identity recognition and the struggle for equality and dignity are played out. In both cases, a sociology of work means proposing a general framework for understanding society.
Questo articolo si propone di analizzare il posto singolare che Touraine ha dato al lavoro nella costruzione della sua sociologia. In primo luogo, il lavoro è il cuore delle società, l'elemento stesso su cui e intorno a cui si organizza la vita sociale e politica. Poi, a un secondo livello, è il palcoscenico su cui si giocano le questioni del riconoscimento dell'identità e della lotta per l'uguaglianza e la dignità. In entrambi i casi, una sociologia del lavoro significa proporre un quadro generale di comprensione della società
